Casino is a good film and while it doesn’t have the pizzazz of a film like Goodfellas, it tells a compelling story about how bad mob life really is. It also does an excellent job of capturing the essence of casino gambling. Robert De Niro is perfect as Ace Rothstein, the smart but tough mobster who runs one of Vegas’ top casinos. Joe Pesci is also excellent as his character, Nicky, a scumbag who lets anger rule most of his decisions. The scene in which Nicky turns into a hound after Ginger is one of the best-written scenes I’ve ever seen in a movie and is well-acted by all involved.
