Poker

Poker is a family of card games that involves comparing and betting your cards in order to win the best hand. Players are usually dealt a set of five cards, which are then used to form their hands. They bet into a pot, which is the result of all the bets made by the other players in a single deal. The highest hand wins the pot.

Before the game, the dealer sets up the cards. One of the cards is face up and the others are face down. A group of people, called a “table”, surrounds the table. During the game, each player bets into the pot in a clockwise direction.

In each round of dealing, a player’s turn to bet passes from one player to the next. During the first betting interval, the player has to bet at least a minimum amount.

When two identical poker hands have a tie, the high unmatched card breaks the tie. If there are three or more people who have a pair with the same card, the high card breaks the tie.

Depending on the variation of the game, there are several different types of bets. Some of these include forced bets and blind bets. These are bets that must be made by the player before he can check.

Most Poker games are played with poker chips. These are usually black, white, green or red, and each chip has a value. Each player has a set number of chips that are assigned before the game begins.
