The basic objective of poker is to create the highest-ranking poker hand. The best possible poker hand is five of a kind. During the first betting round, each player must place a bet. A player who does not match the previous bet is called to fold. The player who did match the bet may raise the bet.

Players can also discard up to three cards. A player can then show their cards, which may be face up or face down. If the player does show their cards, they will have to match the previous bet. The betting rounds are followed by a showdown, where the hands of all the players are revealed. The player with the highest-ranking hand wins the pot.

A player can also bluff by betting that they have the best hand. This is a form of “poker betting”. Depending on the game rules, other players can call the bet or raise it.
